Opportunity for a Lifetime: A Campaign for the Future of Worcester State College is about the people, the amazing people of WSC—our students’ stories, our alumni’s stories, our faculty’s stories. Their experiences are made possible by our strong academics, notable achievements, overall positive momentum, and affordability. It is important that we continue this tradition!

Since our founding as a Normal School in 1874, strong state support permitted Worcester State College’s stature to rise. Quality faculty have been attracted to work here, and they have shared their expertise creatively and inspirationally with bright students, many of whom have been the first in their families to attend college. Upon graduation, most of our alumni continue to live and work in the Worcester area, becoming an integral part of our community at large.

The recent significant decline in state assistance threatens Worcester State’s tradition of excellence, a possibility that has led us to turn more to private donations to meet our areas of critical need. Through the Opportunity for a Lifetime campaign, Worcester State will continue to fulfill our vision of excellence and value as the world changes, as costs rise, and as state funding erodes.

The Opportunity for a Lifetime campaign will build the College’s financial stability in the face of declining state appropriations; allow us to gain flexibility in programs and resources to respond to changing educational and community needs; expand accessibility for students who find even our relatively modest fees an obstacle to enrollment; and help us keep pace with rapid change in academic fields and employer needs to fully prepare graduates and attract/retain accomplished faculty.
